David Jascha Zuschlag studied mechanical engineering, dropped out and taught himself filmmaking.

He started with small jobs: image films, music videos, event camera work. He built his way into the commercial industry from there. He ran his own production company and directed work for brands like Mercedes-Benz, AMG, Allianz, Leica, Bang & Olufsen and Bentley. From the start he wrote his own concepts. That never changed.

Right now his focus is shifting. His short films have been submitted to festivals and he is actively developing longer formats. Narrative filmmaking is where he is headed and his commercial work is moving in that direction too. The earlier he sits at the table with a client, the better the result. Ideas before briefs, stories before scripts.

Along the way he found out that making films is the one process that heals him. And sometimes the people watching too.
